Baguio is a city in the Cordilleras Mountains in the Philippines. Due to its cool mountainous weather Baguio is a treat compared to the sweltering lowlands. Baguio was established by the Americans in 1900 at the site of a native village. At an altitude of 1600 meters or 5280 feet the climate is far more temperate. Because of its altitude, Baguio City was chosen as the Summer Capital of the Philippines.
