Costume Play or Cosplay for short is a type of performance art whose participants outfit themselves in elaborate costumes and accessories as a specific characters, ideas or whims. The costumes are usually inspired by Japanese anime characters though it is not unknown to just make up a new theme, or even cross-breed them such as the goths and Lolitas have done with "Goth-Loly"....
