Pokhara is the third largest city in Nepal and the starting point, or base camp, for most of the treks in the Annapurna area. It is considered by many visitors to Nepal to be a much more desirable base than Kathmandu, thanks to its proximity to the Himalayas, treks, and its location around Lake Fewa. There is also a gourmet restaurant scene here - a far cry from Kathmandu.
