Built of landfill in the middle of Tokyo Bay, Odaiba's unique location, audacious architecture and bay views have made the island a hit with locals. Some come for the shopping, others for museums or entertainment, but everyone enjoys the wide-open space - a rare thing in crowded Tokyo. Most people come over to Odaiba for a day of fresh ocean air or shopping in one of the enormous malls. There is even a beach, though the water quality is quesionable.
