Mohri Garden, often spelled Mori Garden, is thought of as a new, modern garden as a part of the Roppongi Hills complex, but in fact it is a rather old garden that has been “repurposed” for modern living smack dab in the middle of Roppongi. During the Edo Period nobleman Hidehardu Mohri set up his domain here. Later Rokuichiro Masujima, founder of Chuo University took possession and named the garden at that time: Ho’en. In the garden’s modern redevelopment, most of the original cherry trees and stones were used. Today it is an oasis of greenery between the tall buildings of Roppongi Hills - a serene spot that offsets its high tech surroundings. It is a strolling garden woth a circuit around the central pond, with requisite waterfall, stream, cherry and ginkgo trees, surrounded by tall buildings.
