Kishinen Garden at Futakotamagawa Koen - Kishinen is a strolling pond garden and the showcase of Futakotamagawa Park. The garden was designed to incorporate the nature in the garden to the surrounding environment. As a public park in Setagawa Ward Tokyo concepts such as civic welfare and culture and education were other aspects in the overall design. Therefore, the park was designed based on public access, which is unusual for Japanese gardens - usually reserved for monks or tea ceremony aficionados. The stones were gathered locally and placed throughout the garden to emphasize local flavor. The garden was named Kishinen literally “Return to Nature” for local residents and others in Tokyo may enjoy some nature within the city, without restriction or cost.
