Central Market Kuala Lumpur began life as a wet market in 1888 and was renovated in the 1930s with an Art Deco facade. Central Market is a major attraction in KL for tourists as well as for Malaysians. During the 80s there were plans to tear it down for other development but the Malaysian Heritage Society saved the building. Later it became a center for Malaysian arts and crafts, which helped save the building from demolition
