Parrots, psittacines, always have bright colors, usually greens, reds, yellows and blue. There are 279 parrot species in the world that include macaws, keas, lovebirds, parakeets, kakapos and lorikeets. Although quite different from each other in many ways, these birds all have a curved beaks and eat nuts, seeds, fruits, and insects. Parrots have strong thick beaks that are perfect for breaking open nuts. Their clawed feet are very strong and helpful in holding onto food and perches.
