Shirayuri Women's College was once the site of a medicinal botanical garden, hidden in Musashino forest. Megumi-so garden and teahouse was built about 300 years ago and moved to the medicinal herb garden. Currently Megumi-so is used for club activities of the college, especially for students involved in tea ceremony, as the Japanese garden on its grounds are part of the ritual. Megumi-so Japanese Garden and the teahouse is only open once a year to the general public during Tokyo Cultural Property Week by reservation only. However, the garden is easily seen from the adjacent cafeteria without going through all the rigamarole.
