Victoria Harbour is the body of water lying between Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. Sometimes known as Victoria Bay is the third largest in the world after San Francisco and Rio de Janeiro. It is also one of the world's busiest ports bustling day and night with many types of boats: the historic Star Ferry, cruise liners, cargo ships, and wooden fishing junks. In 1861 Victoria Harbour took its name from Queen Victoria. As the center of Hong Kong's dense urban area the bay has hosted many public shows and promenades.
