Negros Occidental Capital Building governing this province of the Philippines. The capital is Bacolod. Negros and occupies the half of Negros Island and is known as "Sugarland" as it supplies much of the Philippines and the world's sugar. Negros Occidental Capitol Park and Lagoon is a provincial park in the center of Bacolod. A unique feature of the park are sculptures of a woman standing alongside a water buffalo and a man pulling another water buffalo. These sculptures are placed at ends of the lagoon. They were executed by Italian sculpture Francesco Riccardo Monti.
