Ryotei Teahouse - This sukiya-style teahouse was built projecting out onto the pond, giving the gardens a true Japanese atmosphere. The open-walled teahouse was originally built by the Iwasakis to host British dignitary Marshall Kitchener who visited Japan in 1909. It survived earthquakes and war, and is still standing today. The garden was completed in the Meiji Period and developed into a famous strolling garden centered around a large pond.
