Wakayama Castle Garden is a refined Japanese garden in the grounds of Wakayama-jo. Officially the garden is known as Momijidani Teien. It was built by Yorinobu Tokugawa for the Nishinomaru Palace. The garden uses the inner moat built in the time of Asano and the undulations of Mt. Torafusu. The Engyokaku floating pavilion in the middle of the moat and another small pavilion Tsuridono. In addition here is an Ofunaishi in the shape of a boat in the middle of the pond. Within the garden there are bridges with character including Momijidani Bridge and wooden bridges paved with earth and stone bridges.
