San Francisco Bay, Gull and Alcatraz - San Francisco Bay is a shallow body of water flowing from the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers from the Sierra Nevada mountains, enters the Pacific Ocean. San Francisco Bay is surrounded by a contiguous region known as the San Francisco Bay Area, dominated by the large cities of San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose. In its center lies Alcatraz, once a maximum security prison but now part of the US National Park system.
