Goryonuma Park is located on the edge of the Matsuyama Plateau, on a hill overlooking the city of Higashi Matsuyama - the pond garden takes advantage of the terrain. In the past, it was used as a reservoir, and a vast rice field spread out on the alluvial land below the marsh. After the rice fields became unusable due to pollution, it lost its value as a reservoir. Currently, it is maintained as a public park and is widely enjoyed by locals who take walks there. It is also a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing in spring.
