Isanohama Beach and Benten Shrine is a few minutes east of Izumo Grand Shrine is Inasanohama beach where all the deities land on their way to Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine for their yearly get together. There is an annual welcoming ritual that continues even now, and as the shrine is a power spot for worshipers. This beach is often discussed in Japanese mythology, for this reason. A tiny rock island called Bentenjima is located here with a tiny shrine where the Toyotamahikomikoto god is enshrined. The beach itself was one of the first to be opened to the public during the Meiji Period.
