Snail Fossils Minamjima - One of the most unusual attractions at Minamijima are the fossils of snails that went extinct over 1000 years ago - they are half buried on the sandy shores of the island. These can be easily viewed, but visitors to are not permitted to touch the fossils, or any other animals or plants on the island.
