Gion-ji Temple Gate in Mito is a Zen temple of Mitsukuni Mito foundation of the public with history dating back to China of the Ming Dynasty. Kokoro Etsu Zenji was brought over to Japan is the founder. At that time it was the head temple with 30 branches under Nanzenji in Kyoto. Currently, Gion-ji is under the supervision of Sojiji Temple in Yokohama, is the temple of the Soto sect.
