hosen-ji-04.jpg
Hosenji Temple Garden - Hosen-ji Temple of the Soto sect was founded in the late Muromachi period. The garden behind the main hall is a Zen-style garden designed by gardener Toshiro Mizumura in the early Meiji period. Behind the main hall, which was extensively renovated in 2019, there is a pond garden created in the early Meiji period. The pond is lined with cobblestones to create a beach that looks beautiful along the water's edge. There are large stones in the foreground that are large stepping stones. The design consists of small stones placed around it with planted moss in the gaps between them. A Karetaki stone set-up is built between the two Dejima islands, and a Sanson stone is placed at the top.
