jade-emperor-pagoda-4.jpg
Jade Emperor Pagoda was built by the Chinese community in Saigon.. It is also known as the "Luck Sea Temple" as well as "the Tortoise Pagoda". Jade Emperor Pagoda is easily Saigon's most atmospheric. The Jade Emperor Pagoda guards the entrance to heaven deciding who gets in. The Jade Emperor's two cohorts, one with a lamp and the other with an axe are there to guide you in the right direction. There are also other deities here: including a fertility goddess, Lord of Hell and even Buddha of the future. The entire collection is an amalgam of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian beliefs.
