The dukligan or fertility hut is the most interesting building at Tam Awan village. In traditional Ifugao practice mating couples stay there for a month. If the woman fails to conceive within that period, the man is allowed to sleep with another woman without forfeiting the marriage. The same treatment applies to the woman. She can sleep with another man to find out which of them is fertile. Tam-awan Village is a model Cordillera village and a center of local arts and culture in Baguio. The name Tam-awan is from an indigenous word meaning "vantage point". Tam Awan was established by Benedicto Cabrera also known as Bencab in order to promote the local arts scene. The village consists of authentic Ifugao and Kalinga huts on hilly terrain.
