kameido-shrine-05.jpg
Kameido Tenjin Shrine is known as the best place in Tokyo to view wisterias. Beneath the wisteria trellises is a quiet pond, creating the unique scenery of purple flowers reflected on the surface of the water. These beautiful wisteria flowers were planted during the Edo period. These legendary wisterias are also the subject of many ukiyoe color prints asnwell as the subject of other works of art. Wisteria flowers begin blooming in late April. These lovely lavender-colored flowers are comprised of several bunches, and are especially beautiful when dangled from wisteria trellises.
