Erawan Shrine Dancers - Erawan Shrine or "San Phra Phrom" in Thai is a Hindu shrine in Bangkok with a statue of the Hindu creation god Brahma or Phra Phrom as it is known in Thai. The shrine features performances by resident Thai dance troupes who are hired by worshippers for making merit. Erawan Shrine was built in 1956 so as to eliminate the bad karma that was believed to have been caused by laying the foundations of a hotel being built on the wrong date. The hotel's construction was delayed by a series of troubles: injuries to laborers, budget and the loss of a Italian marble intended for the building. Another dark mark on the location was that Ratchaprasong Intersection had once been used to publicly display and humiliate criminals.
