Citrus unshiu is a seedless and easy-peeling citrus species, known in Japan as mikan,and elsewhere as mandarin orange, satsuma mandarin, satsuma orange and tangerine. Originally from Chinese origins, named after Unsyu, China, but introduced to the West via Japan. Ehime Prefecture in Shikoku is Japan's largest producer of mikan oranges.
