73.6.OGASAWARA.PANDANUS-1.jpg
73.6 Pandanus Boninensis is sometimes called a screw pine, because of its unusual roots. It is a species of pandan that is endemic to the Ogasawara Islands. Two unusual and unique triterpenoids and alkaloids that may be useful in medicines were isolated from the leaves of Pandanus Boninensis along with known triterpenoids and lignans.
