Warabi History Museum Garden - the Warabi History Museum was once the domain of a textile merchant that has been converted into a museum, teahouse and Japanese garden. The museum and garden is located on the historic Nakasendo Road, which was one of the main routes from Kyoto to Tokyo during the Edo Period. Later, during the Meiji Period, the textile merchant built this home, though the importance of the Nakasendo was waning. It was de rigueur for members of the wealthy merchant class, such as a textile dealer, to have a tea ceremony room with adjacent Japanese garden. This was built in 1997. The small pond garden is meant to be seen from the main building and its tea ceremony room, and its centerpiece is a large pine tree drooping over the pond.
