Higo Hosokawa Garden is a pond garden that takes advantage of the natural scenery of the Mejirodai Plateau. The area around this park has been the residence of Hosokawa family since the Edo period. It was the domain of the the home of the Hosokawa Hagikawa family. Afterwards, the city of Tokyo acquired it and was opened as Shin Edogawa Park in 1959. Later it became the property of Bujjkyo =ku Ward and is now maintained by Bunkyo Ward who have recently renovated the grounds and renamed it Higo Hosokawa Garden.
