Rinkokaku is a vast Japanese-style wooden building, and an important cultural property designated by the country, consisting of a main building, annex and a tea room.
The main building was built as a guest house in 1897 with the cooperation of the Gunma Prefectural Ordinance, Motohiko Katori and volunteers in the city. The traditional teahouse was also completed in 1897 by Genbei Imai, a palace carpenter in Kyoto. The annex is a Shoin-style building built as a guesthouse. There is a flowing garden in the lawn in front of the main building of Rinkokaku - this Ikezumi strolling Japanese garden integrated with Rinkokaku was rebuilt in 2008 and annexed to Maebashi Park. Sachinoike Pond, the centerpiece of this garden is shaped in the form of Gunma prefecture.
