Wat-Paknam-01.jpg
Wat Paknam Bhasi Charoen is a royal temple and part of the Maha Nikaya group and the origin of the Dhammakaya Movement and supported by well heeled community members. Wat Paknam was originally established during the Ayutthaya period and became widely known thanks to abbot Somdet Chuang. Wat Paknam is known for its charitable giving and its project to promote the five precepts of Thai society. Wat Paknam has an international presence and has a long history of connections and contact with Buddhists from other countries. Somdet Chuang built a large white stupa at the temple called Maharatchamongkhon which has caused it to become an interesting tourist attraction in part because of its huge domed fresco painted ceiling.
