Amer Fort (often spelled Amber Fort) was built by Raja Man Singh Iand is renowned for its artistic style incorporating Hindu architectural elements: large ramparts, gates and cobbled paths. Within is an opulent palace complex built of sandstone and marble. The palace was once lived in by the Rajput Maharajas but these days eighty elephants live within the fort grounds. Amer Fort overlooks Maota Lake below.
