  • Josephene Ng's created this Botanical Garden on the outskirts of Dumaguete called Our Lady's Garden. Jo was ill and visited by the Virgin Mary, even though she was not Catholic.  After her recovery, she decided to build a monument and garden honoring our lady, across from a branch of one of her renowned barbequed chicken joints overlooking the ocean in Sibulan, just outside Dumaguete.  .

  • The Japanese butterbur or coltsfoot, petasites japonicus giganteus, is found in wet marshy habitats and is used for cooking and it is said the taste is similar to rhubarb that is a slightly bitter but agreeable flavor.  They are also used for medicinal purposes and useful for pulmonary and asthma problems.  These are shown at Hokkaido University's Botanical Garden.

  • Suan Luang Rama IX Park was a joint effort between the private and public sectors and a gift to His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of his birthday in 1987.  Besides providing Bangkok residents with much-needed green space, Suan Luang Rama IX Public Park has a botanical garden, so as to promote knowledge of plants and flower species for educational  purposes. For these distinctions and for its associated historical, architectural, and engineering merits, the Conservatory of Flowers is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the California Register of Historical Places. It is also a California Historical Landmark, and a San Francisco Designated Landmark.

Megumi-so garden and teahouse was built about 300 years ago and moved to the medicinal herb garden.  Currently Megumi-so is used for club activities of the college, especially for students involved in tea ceremony, as the Japanese garden on its grounds are part of the ritual.  Megumi-so Japanese Garden and the teahouse is only open once a year to the general public during Tokyo Cultural Property Week by reservation only. However, the garden is easily seen from the adjacent cafeteria without going through all the rigamarole.

  • Hanata-en Garden was designed by Ken Nakajima and opened to the public in 1991.  Though it is a classic Japanese strolling garden in every sense of the word, it is quite modern in its execution.  Nakajima also designed the Japanese gardens for Montreal Expo at Montreal Botanical Garden, as well as Cowra Garden in Australia and Moscow Japanese Garden.  The grounds of Hanata-en were previously rice fields, but were formed to emulate the hills, rivers, lakes, ponds of valleys in the topograpy of Japan.

To please the kids and family types there is a craft house where one can experience glass blowing, glass etching, pottery and dried flower arrangement.
