  • Pearl Building Bangkok - The concept behind the design of the Pearl Building Bangkok is energy efficiency. The unique design of the building was to create an inspirational & iconic shape to resemble an oval pearl. Already a landmark in Bangkok, part of its fame is that on special occasions such as New Years or Valentines, the multicolored LED lighting on its shell is illuminated and puts on a light show. Better yet, it is an energy-saving green building that uses insulated low iron glass to reduce outside heat while allowing natural light to enter which reduces the amount of electricity required for lighting and air conditioning which reduces electricity consumption by 60 per cent. The building also has a water-recycling treatment system reducing water usage reducing water usage by 40 per cent. The building was designed by Palmer & Turner architectural firm.

  • Keyaki Building aka Hugo Boss Building on Omotesando. The building’s structure is composed of multiple columns, resembling a torch, that are made of reinforced concrete and arranged on the outer shell. The texture on these columns was developed by pouring concrete into a wooden molds. The Keyaki Building was designed to relate to its environment in Harajuku by bringing different elements into the context, such as the vertical scale made possible by its torch shaped form provided by the concrete columns. Hugo Boss Keyaki Building is surrounded by Tod’s but in a symbiotic way. Hugo Boss building is in relationship to the Tod’s building by creating a diagonal orientation with an additional circular design maximizing the corner lot, and creates a kind of synergy with the next door neighbors’ design.

  • Tod’s Building on Omotesando in Harajuku Tokyo has incorporated unusually shaped glass panels and concrete on the facade of its unique building. The design was inspired by the zelkova trees that line the boulevard outside. The building was designed by architect Toyo Ito. Luxury retailers in hopes of promoting their brands have turned to the notion of luxutectur, by commissioning outstanding architecturally designed buildings with the purpose of promoting their brands. Instead of rigid right angles and mathematical curves, The Tod's Building is made up of braces that have gentle curves that emulate try to organic forms. The unity between exterior and interior form was possible because the same architect created both. Ordinarily, there is an architect for the building and another one for the interior. In this case, a single person was tasked with creating the building, and the result was worth the gamble. Tod’s is an Italian fashion brand leather goods and shoes.
