  • Ahanalui Warm Springs is a spring fed pool - part natural and part manmade. It is also volcanically heated to a balmy 90 degrees! The bottom of the pool is sand and mud and has a slight sulfur smell. The water is brackish but very clear and fish often swim along with the visitors. A small inlet separates the pool from the ocean and allows the fish access to the pool. The area is surrounded by palm trees, green grass and the Pacific Ocean making it a very beautiful and uncrowded tropical retreat.

Man Mo Temple was built in 1847 and to pause here beneath giant hanging incense coils is a pleasant contrast with the hectic pace of the nearby shopping and financial district.  Kung Sor, built to the temple’s west, was an important assembly hall where community affairs and disputes were often discussed and settled.

  • Hawa Mahal  "Palace of Winds" is a unique five storey building in Jaipur.  It’s exterior has 953 windows decorated with intricate latticework  Hawa Mahal was built of sandstone and is a part of the City Palace.  Lal Chand Ustad was the architect of this unique masterpiece who also planned Jaipur city, much of which is built in pink colored sandstone. The Hawa Mahal is the symbol or icon of Jaipur “The Pink City”.  Jaipur is also the capital of Rajasthan.

  • The Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden was opened in 1992 and is maintained under the auspices of the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The facility's purpose is to conduct and promote botanical research, biodiversity and to conserve Thailand's natural plant resources.  With its wide collection of plant species, 12 exhibition greenhouses, garden and nature trails, educational and research activities, the facility offers many learning opportunities - not just a tourist attraction.  Originally the botanical park named the Mae Sa Botanic Garden.

  • Chiang Rai Night Bazaar is located between the bus station and Phaholyothin Road in the center of town. The market is made up of many small stands lining the narrow streets and back alleys. Everything is on display from silk, readymade garments to tattoo etching. The hill tribes sell a selection of old coins, needlework and quilted bedspreads.

Dating back as far as the Nara period, the name furoshiki literally "bath spread" derives from the Edo period practice of using them to bundle clothes while at the sento.  Furoshiki were known as hirazutsumi "flat folded bundle"  Eventually, the furoshiki's usage extended to serve as a means for merchants to transport goods.  Nowadays they are widely used to protect and decorate a gift, lunch boxes with hundreds of other practical uses.

  • Hong Kong is a city state that would seem to be the world's largest shopping mall.  Besides all the duty free camera shops and watches,  all the international designers are well-represented.  Add to this, a few local home grown talents  are making a name for themselves here and abroad.   Causeway Bay on Hong Kong island is ground zero for fashion here.  The fashionable congregate here at Sogo, Fashion Walk, Beverly Centre, and countless other venues to shop, strut their stuff and see and be seen.  Over on the mainland in Mong Kok  "Ladies Street" (its official name - Tung Choi Street) is the more traditional spot for affordable ready-to-wear for more practical togs.

Each face has a different expression, signifying that the deity listens to the wishes of all types of people. Gold leaf was applied to the statue in 1342 and in 1392 the halo was added. Although Kannon is usually described in English as "the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy" strictly speaking it is neither masculine nor feminine and represents compassion, mercy, and love.

  • Rizal Boulevard in Dumaguete  was named after Dr. Jose Rizal, it is said that Dr Rizal made a brief visit and took a stroll here before departing to neighboring Dapitan where he was exiled for four years following the Spanish authorities’ suspicion that he was about to lead a revolution.  The Boulevard is immediately visible when coming into Dumaguete port via any sea vessel. From the white lamp posts lining up the stretch to the stately palms swaying in the breeze, Rizal Boulevard is a favorite landmark for residents and visitors.

  • Built in 1931, Dalat cathedral is the largest church in the city of Dalat..It is known as the rooster church because on the top of the tower was placed a bronze rooster weathervane.  The cathedral numerous stained glass windows, which were hand made in Grenoble, France by the Louis Balmet workshop.

  • Galle Architecture -  With the arrival of colonialism to Sri Lanka which is evident in the architecture. Very few buildings of the Portuguese era survives, however many building from the Dutch era can be found within the fort area of Galle built by the Dutch in the year 1663 which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many important historic buildings were built by the colonial governments. These were often built in one or another European architectural style, which was in fashion at the time such as the Palladian, Renaissance or Neo-classical styles.

  • Galle Lighthouse is a lighthouse in Galle Fort, Sri Lanka and is operated and maintained by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. This is Sri Lanka's oldest light station dating back to 1848. The light station is within the walls of the ancient Galle fort, a UNESCO world heritage site and well known tourist attraction, making this the country's most often visited lighthouse.

  • Wat Suthat Thepwararam, usually called Wat Suthat by Bangkok residents, is a royal temple of the first grade, one of only six such temples in Thailand. Construction was begun by His Majesty King Rama I in 1807.  Further construction was carried out by King Rama II who even helped carve the wooden doors.  This temple contains the Buddha image Phra Sri Sakyamuni.  There are 28 pagodas around the base, symbolizing  the 28 Buddhas born on this earth

Yuantong Temple is a working temple that also represents the Buddhism of China today.   • The Pont des Arts or Passerelle des Arts is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the Seine River in Paris.  The bridge occasionally serves as a venue for art exhibitions, and is a showcase  for painters, artists and photographers who are drawn to its unique point of view.   • Shimekazari, Japanese New Year Decorations - For hanging on the front door, there is the shimekazari, which varies from region to region but always contains many auspicious ingredients. There is usually a small folding fan on top representing the your generating plenty of descendants, an orange which means generation after generation, and a small lobster  who with their bent backs represent attaining old age. There is also some red and white folded shide paper which is effective for preventive impurities from entering the house.

  • The Queen Sirikit Botanical Garden was opened in 1992 and is maintained under the auspices of the Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The facility's purpose is to conduct and promote botanical research, biodiversity and to conserve Thailand's natural plant resources.  With its wide collection of plant species, 12 exhibition greenhouses, garden and nature trails, educational and research activities, the facility offers many learning opportunities - not just a tourist attraction.   • Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery in Nyaung Shwe near Inle Lake is a wooden monastery with unique red painted teak wood oval windows.  The temple is richly decorated with mosaics and golden ornaments. The unique oval windows at this teak monastery serves as a school for young Burmese novice monks.

  • Mingala Market Naung Shwe - Every morning started at daybreak the Mingala Market traders from the lake bring in fresh produce from the floating gardens and fish from the lake itself.  Most of the goods at the market are not aimed at tourists, but practical useful things for locals such as fishing spears, machetes and even begging bowls.

  • Wat Pan Tao meaning "to increase 1,000 times." The temple was built in the late fourteenth century and was one of four monastic temples serving the royal temple next door: Wat  Chedi Luang.. The temple's most interesting feature is its teak  wooden wiharn, which was formerly a royal residence but the practice in Lanna was for each new king to built a new palace. The old palaces were often 'recycled' into other uses, especially in temples. Over the main entry door on the east end of the chapel is a large gilded wood carving depicting a peacock flanked by several other animals, some of which are mythical. The peacock was the symbol of the kings of Chiang Mai; this carving has appeared on stamps and other materials celebrating Chiang Mai's 700th anniversary.

  • The magnificent statue of Hase Kannon is housed here for all to see and worship. It is 9 meters pr 30 feet tall and has eleven heads in addition to its main one - three in front, three to the left and three to the right, plus one at the top and another on the back. Each face has a different expression, signifying that the deity listens to the wishes of all types of people. Gold leaf was applied to the statue in 1342 and in 1392 the halo was added. Although Kannon is usually described in English as "the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy" strictly speaking it is neither masculine nor feminine and represents compassion, mercy, and love.
